Colin Powell went on Meet the Press today and endorsed Obama for president. That’s nice. But what made me really happy is that he said what I have been waiting for someone, anyone, in government to say publicly.

denounced Republican tactics that he said were insulting not only to Obama but also to Muslims.
“The really right answer is what if he is?” Powell said,
praising the contributions of millions of Muslim citizens to American society."
Powell even went so far as to criticize the idea that being Muslim should automatically disqualify a person from becoming president (this belief is what the rumor spreading fear mongers are banking on). He called that idea "not American."
